A British racer that saw victories at the Manx Gran Prix was the Excelsior Manxman. It was manufactured for a few short years between 1934 through 1939.
Prior to WWII, Excelsior’s plant was not equipped to manufacture motors, so the company sourced them from the famed engineer Ike hatch of Blackburn fame. It was Hatch’s efforts in support of AJS that resulted in the development of the 7R-3 motorcycle years later in the early 1950′s.
